Desktop Support Technician

The scope of work will include:
• Replacement of existing desktop and laptop hardware with new equipment including PCs, monitors, printers, and other peripherals.
• Application compatibility testing of required desktop software and hardware to ensure compatibility with Windows 7/10.
• Full documentation of all installation procedures and troubleshooting steps.
• Configuration of the Windows 7/10 image with user-specific profiles and data.
• Installation and configuration of software applications for end users.
• Hardware and software asset inventory maintenance for equipment and software changes.
• Processing surplus equipment for disposal following Port procedures.

This work will require strong attention to detail. Customer contact will be required so the successful candidate must be customer-oriented, technically capable, courteous and able to work successfully in a professional work environment.

Required Skills and Abilities:
• Demonstrated expertise in supporting Windows 7 operating systems in an enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated experience working on large-scale client PC hardware deployment projects, working to tight deadlines.
• Ability to follow complex written and verbal instruction and procedures accurately.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills (hardware and software).
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
• Team and customer-orientation; ability to work effectively with various disciplines within the IT department.
• Ability to work independently and develop work procedures that meet Port-specified project requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to write software installation instructions for new and existing desktop software.
• Possess ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces (e.g. under desks) when installing equipment.
• 4 -5 years experience.
